About the role We are a busy steel stockholding business based in Birmingham and are looking for an experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper & Accounts Administrator to support our day-to-day accounts, paperwork and office administration. This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone who is organised, accurate and confident using Xero. The successful candidate will help keep our accounts records up to date, support invoice processing, maintain clear paperwork, and assist with general administration and compliance documentation.
Main duties Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using Xero. Process purchase invoices, supplier statements and expenses. Raise and record sales invoices where required. Reconcile bank transactions and accounts. Assist with VAT return preparation and accountant queries. Support credit control by keeping track of customer payments. Maintain organised digital and paper records. Assist with payroll information and staff records where required. Help manage health and safety documents, training records, certificates and compliance paperwork.
Support general office administration and filing. Liaise with suppliers, customers, accountants and internal staff when needed. Essential requirements Previous bookkeeping or accounts administration experience. Confident using Xero. Good knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations. Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy. Good Microsoft Excel and general computer skills. Able to organise paperwork and keep records up to date.
Reliable, confidential and able to work independently. Comfortable working on-site at our Birmingham office. Desirable experience Experience in a stockholding, manufacturing, construction, engineering, wholesale or trade business. Experience assisting with VAT returns.
Experience with payroll records or staff paperwork. Experience maintaining health and safety or compliance documents. Working arrangements Part-time, permanent position. 25 hours per week. Monday to Friday. Fully on-site at Birmingham B18 7AD
. Start date as soon as possible. What we are looking for We are looking for someone accurate, organised and trustworthy who can take responsibility for keeping accounts and paperwork in good order. The right person will be confident with Xero, comfortable working in a busy business environment, and happy to support wider office administration when required.
