SEN Teaching Assistants

Prospero Teaching is recruiting experienced and passionate Teaching Assistants to join a dedicated SEN school in Emsworth. The specialist school provides high‑quality education and care for students aged 11‑16 with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive.

As a successful candidate you will play a key role in supporting pupils academically and socially, working alongside a committed team to deliver a nurturing, pupil‑centred learning experience.

While prior experience in a school or SEN setting is advantageous, it is not essential. The school offers ongoing training and professional development for the right candidate with the right attitude.

Temporary to Permanent opportunities

Hours:

Full‑time, Monday to Friday
Pay Rate:
From GBP 11.20 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with Moderate Learning Difficulties in the classroom
  • Assist with learning activities, engagement, and behaviour management
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
  • Support students’ emotional, social, and personal development
  • Provide personal care support where required
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant (SEN experience desirable but not essential)
  • Passion for supporting children with ASD, Aspergers, and complex needs
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and able to engage students effectively
  • Positive, patient, and caring attitude
  • Willingness to participate in classroom activities
  • Comfortable supporting with personal care needs
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply
  • Provide two professional references, preferably child-related
