We are seeking an experienced Risk Manager to support the delivery of a major reservoir infrastructure project for a leading UK water client. This is a significant capital programme offering the opportunity to play a key role in managing programme, commercial, and delivery risk within a complex engineering environment.
This position is suited to a proactive contractor who can operate independently, influence senior stakeholders, and implement robust risk management processes across a large-scale infrastructure scheme.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain the project Risk Management Framework aligned to industry best practice.
- Facilitate risk identification workshops with technical, commercial, and delivery teams.
- Maintain and manage the risk register, ensuring clear ownership and mitigation strategies.
- Provide risk reporting and analysis to senior stakeholders and programme leadership.
- Support programme controls, governance processes, and decision-making through risk insight.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, planners, and commercial teams to monitor emerging risks and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with client governance and regulatory expectations.
- Proven experience working as a Risk Manager on major infrastructure, utilities, water, or civil engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of programme risk, cost risk, and delivery risk within large capital projects.
- Experience working with structured risk management tools and methodologies.
- Ability to lead workshops and influence multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent stakeholder communication and reporting skills.
- Comfortable working in a contractor environment with autonomy.
- Water sector or reservoir/dam project experience.
- Background working with UK utilities clients.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts or regulated infrastructure programmes.
- Experience supporting projects through complex approvals or regulatory stages.
- Outside IR35 engagement.
- Hybrid working with regular presence in Hampshire.
- Immediate or short-notice start preferred.
