Info About What The Maintenance Engineer Role Entails

Exciting electro‑mechanical Maintenance Engineer role on a small night shift team, supervising one Technician in a fast‑paced, high‑tech manufacturing facility. You will maintain a cutting‑edge 24 hour production line including pick & placement machines, SMT screen printers, ovens, conveyors, automated optical inspection machines, assembly lines, robotics, conveyors & laser marking machines amongst others.

The night shift can be a challenge as there are fewer people available to help, so you will be comfortable with root cause analysis & fault diagnosis/identification. Alongside reactive maintenance & planned maintenance activities, you will run small CI projects to improve downtime and machinery performance.

Essential Requirements Of The Maintenance Engineer
  • Time served or HNC (or equivalent) qualification in an electrical, mechanical or electro‑mechanical engineering discipline. You will perform many small mechanical adjustments; 3‑phase electrical maintenance is minimal.
  • 2/3 + years of experience in a similar role – some experience in a maintenance environment is essential.
  • Some knowledge of electrical & electronic systems & sensors, e.g. PLCs, vision systems, fibre optic sensors, mechanics, pneumatics, robotics and test equipment.
  • Good problem‑solving & decision‑making skills; you will be able to fault find, diagnose, and have a strong track record of fault finding and RCA.
  • Experience with RCA‑driven improvements to machines & processes – e.g. RCA methodologies, SMED, 5 Whys, fishbone, Ishikawa; predictive and preventative strategy.
  • Proactive mindset, always looking for cost savings and improvements.
Desirable Requirements Of The Maintenance Engineer
  • Experience with robotics, conveyors or hydraulics.
  • 18th Edition qualified.
  • Experience mentoring or leading apprentices – if you don't have that experience, it can be developed with in‑house management courses, 1:2s & distance learning opportunities.
  • Lean – proactive approach to eliminate waste, SMED, etc., across people, process and equipment.
Benefits
  • 37 hours per week.
  • Night shift – start from Sunday at 10:30 pm to 6 am, then Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10 pm to 6 am.
  • Overtime at time and a half.
  • Significantly enhanced pension scheme.
  • 25 days holiday + ability to purchase extra days.
  • Company bonus scheme.
  • Share allocation scheme.
  • Health plan, access to 24‑hour doctors, etc.
  • Life insurance (3 × annual salary and up to 6 × annual salary depending on T&C).
