Working Pattern: Permanent | Full-time | 43 hours per week (including day and night shifts). The Alarm Receiving Centre operates 24/7.
The RoleWe are seeking individuals who are motivated by helping others and able to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
Group Security and Investigation play a vital role in safeguarding SSE’s assets. The Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) is a modern, purpose-built control room that provides continuous, round-the-clock monitoring and response to a wide range of security incidents. The ARC oversees the protection of more than 750 operational assets, including over 600 intruder and fire systems and in excess of 4,000 cameras.
Youwill
- Monitor security systems, respond to emergency calls, and take appropriate action in line with established procedures.
- Have strong observational skills which are essential, particularly during periods of heightened activity.
- Be expected to remain calm and professional when handling emergency situations, reviewing sensitive imagery, or supporting individuals who may be distressed.
- Clear and effective communication, along with strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail, focus, and a commitment to high standards of customer service
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and maintain concentration over extended periods
- Sound judgement and the ability to assess and respond to situations under pressure
- Good IT proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn CCTV and alarm-handling systems
- Previous experience with security systems is beneficial, though not essential.
