Position: Support Worker (Out of Hours)

Overview

As a Support Worker in the Out of Hours team
, you’ll provide vital support to children, families and vulnerable adults at the moments they need it most. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary hub, you’ll respond to urgent and often complex situations outside of standard hours, helping to keep people safe and supported. Your work will play a key role in building resilience, supporting people through challenging circumstances, and improving outcomes through a whole-family approach.

What you’ll do
  • Provide timely advice, guidance and support to children, families and vulnerable adults, particularly in crisis situations.
  • Respond to urgent issues, ensuring risks are assessed and appropriate action is taken.
  • Build positive, professional relationships and work sensitively with individuals facing complex challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, sharing information and making referrals to ensure holistic support.
  • Work flexibly as part of a rota, using your judgement and escalating concerns where needed.
What we’re looking for
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Social Care.
  • Experience of working directly with children, families and vulnerable adults, and understanding of their needs.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and report writing skills.
  • Ability to assess risk, stay calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Organised, IT literate, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
