Transport Operations Manager Required!

Location:

Portsmouth

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 6:30pm

Our client is an established transport and logistics business operating a busy palletised distribution, haulage and warehousing operation from Portsmouth.

We are looking for an experienced Transport Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation, managing drivers, transport planning, customer service and overall performance.

Package:

Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 6:30pm

£45,000 - £50,000 per annum

Transport Operations Manager - Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day transport operation
  • Manage and support drivers, warehouse and admin staff
  • Oversee daily planning, vehicle movements and deliveries
  • Monitor transport performance and resolve operational issues
  • Deal with driver and customer queries
  • Work closely with the warehouse and planning teams
  • Monitor vehicle availability, maintenance and downtime
  • Ensure drivers and vehicles operate safely and compliantly
  • Monitor driver hours, vehicle checks and relevant documentation
  • Identify ways to improve efficiency, service and operating costs
  • Manage operational administration and performance reporting
Transport Operations Manager - Requirements:
  • Previous experience in transport operations, transport management or a senior transport role
  • Experience managing drivers and/or a transport team
  • Good understanding of day-to-day transport operations
  • Confident dealing with drivers, customers and internal teams
  • Good understanding of driver hours and transport compliance
  • Organised, commercially aware and able to make decisions
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a busy, fast-moving environment
  • Good IT and administration skills
  • CPC is not essential
  • Pallet network, general haulage or similar transport experience would be advantageous
