Pembrokeshire College is looking to appoint a fixed term Communication Support Worker (BSL) to work as part of a dynamic ALN and Inclusion Team. We are looking for an individual with the necessary skills, experience and person-centred ethos to support a learner who is hearing impaired.
Communication Support Worker (BSL)
18 hours per week during College term time (36 weeks)
Equivalent to £15.30 - £16.57 per hour
This is a 4-point incremental scale with progression to each point on an annual basis. Commencing salaries will be assessed in accordance with the College’s starting salaries matrix.
These fractionalised and pro rata posts will be paid in equal amounts over 12 months and will include payment for the pro rata accrued annual leave (as annual leave cannot be taken within the working periods).
Hours of Work: 18 hours per week (6 hours a day for 3 days) for 36 weeks during College’ term time (September 26 - June 27)
More hours are potentially available for any appropriately qualified and experienced candidate who wishes to work above 18 hours per week, but this may not be at the same rate of pay

Qualifications: You will hold a relevant BSL qualification at Level 2
Experience: You must have knowledge and experience of supporting learners with a range of Additional Learning Needs, including a hearing impairment.
Details: The role will require providing communication support to a hearing-impaired learner.
The successful candidate willfacilitateaccess to learning, communication, social opportunities, and College life through the use of British Sign Language (BSL) Level
2. They will work closely with teaching staff, specialist support services, and external agencies to promote the learner’s independence, achievement, and inclusion.
