Quantity Surveyor

Role Description

This is a hands-on commercial role, closely tied to site and delivery. You will be responsible for cost control, variations, take-offs, and commercial decision-making across bespoke residential projects. You will be expected to question design detail, interrogate cost, and clearly justify commercial positions.

We are looking for someone who can do the job well!

• Strong on-site knowledge; trade background welcomed
• Confident questioning drawings, specifications, and technical details
• Clear and firm when explaining variations and cost uplifts
• Accurate, organised, and methodical when compiling information
• Excellent IT skills (Excel essential; estimating software experience beneficial)
• Strong take-off and measurement capability
• Comfortable challenging architects, consultants, and clients when required
• Well presented and confident in commercial negotiations
• Detail-focused and observant on site
• Works well as part of a close-knit team

• Prepare accurate take-offs, schedules, and cost plans
• Set and manage project budgets
• Assess, price, and clearly justify variations
• Review drawings, specifications, and design changes
• Attend site regularly and identify commercial risk early
• Manage valuations, payments, and final accounts
• Maintain clear and accurate commercial records
• Liaise directly with clients, architects, and site teams
• Contribute to improving internal systems and processes
