Senior Sister​/Charge Nurse

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse on Ward 1 at Withybush General Hospital. The role requires evidence‑based practice, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a readiness to innovate and develop nursing within a team approach.

• Provide visible clinical leadership, ensuring safe, high‑quality, person‑centred care.
• Manage the ward/team workforce, including recruitment, appraisal, performance, and staff wellbeing.
• Lead on quality, safety, and clinical governance, including audits, risk management, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operational management, including patient flow, capacity, and resource use.
• Support staff development, education, and a positive team culture.
• Ensure an excellent patient experience, responding to feedback and driving improvements.
• Contribute to service development and organisational priorities, deputising for senior colleagues as required.
• Speak Welsh is desirable;

• Band 7 nursing registration with evidence of evidence‑based practice.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Experience working in an acute surgical/colorectal environment.
• Capability to lead multidisciplinary teams and act as a key link with service users and wider clinical teams.
• Forward‑thinking approach to patient‑centred care and continuous improvement.
