Health & Safety Assistant

A client of ours in the Haverhill area is recruiting a Health & Safety Assistant to join their team. This is a temporary-to-permanent position, working either part-time or full-time depending on the candidate, and paying between £15.00 and £20.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Your key duties in this Health & Safety Assistant role will include but are not limited to:

Maintaining and updating health & safety records, policies, procedures and documentation
Assisting with the completion and review of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
Monitoring staff training, certification records and compliance requirements
Conducting workplace inspections and assisting with internal audits
Monitoring corrective actions and ensuring these are followed up and completed
Liaising with managers, employees and external contractors regarding health & safety matters
Assisting with ensuring compliance with current UK health & safety legislation and company policies
Providing general administrative, document management and reporting support relating to health & safety

Skills and experience required to be considered for this role:

Previous experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within an engineering or construction environment
Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements
Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
Confident communication skills and the ability to work with people at all levels
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
NEBOSH General Certificate, or working towards, would be desirable
IOSH Managing Safely or Working Safely would be desirable

Experience with in a manufacturing, engineering or construction environment would be advantageous
Knowledge of CDM regulations would be desirable
