Health & Safety Assistant

A client of ours in the Haverhill area is recruiting a Health & Safety Assistant to join their team. This is a temporary-to-permanent position, working either part-time or full-time depending on the candidate, and paying between 15.00 and 20.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Your key duties in this Health & Safety Assistant role will include but are not limited to:

• Maintaining and updating health & safety records, policies, procedures and documentation
• Assisting with the completion and review of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
• Monitoring staff training, certification records and compliance requirements
• Conducting workplace inspections and assisting with internal audits
• Monitoring corrective actions and ensuring these are followed up and completed
• Liaising with managers, employees and external contractors regarding health & safety matters
• Assisting with ensuring compliance with current UK health & safety legislation and company policies
• Providing general administrative, document management and reporting support relating to health & safety

Skills and experience required to be considered for this role:

• Previous experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within an engineering or construction environment
• Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and compliance requirements
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
• Confident communication skills and the ability to work with people at all levels
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
• NEBOSH General Certificate, or working towards, would be desirable
• IOSH Managing Safely or Working Safely would be desirable
• Experience with in a manufacturing, engineering or construction environment would be advantageous
• Knowledge of CDM regulations would be desirable
