Production Manager, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations
We’re seeking an experienced, capable Production Manager with great people skills to join our client’s site in Haverhill, Suffolk.
This is a full-time, permanent position working from 8:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday and comes with a salary in the region of £50,000 per annum depending on relevant skills, experiences and qualifications.
This will be a rewarding yet challenging position working within a renowned, established business. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping their future and contributing to their success as they grow. The company are launching a new product this Autumn and ultimately has plans to double their capacity and output.
The CompanyThe employer is a well-established business who are globally renowned in their markets. They design, manufacture and build a range of electro-mechanical machinery for customers around the world. They employ around 100 members of staff, most of whom are based at their site in Haverhill, Suffolk.

The RoleYou’ll be tasked with keeping the day-to-day production schedule running tightly, whilst finding and implementing solutions and driving continuous improvement. Leading, motivating and effectively managing a team of around 15 across multi-disciplined departments including machining, welding, paint spraying, mechanical and electrical assembly, stores and quality. Supported by, and supporting a Production Supervisor and Production Engineer, you’ll work together to drive change - both in the company’s production efficiencies as well as internally, knitting the team together by learning about individual personalities and how to get the best out of each person on the shop floor.
You’ll do this by utilising stellar interpersonal skills, a diplomatic and tailored management style and a tenacious and dynamic approach to production problem-solving.
- Lead and manage the Production team, providing guidance, support, and motivation to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
- Lead and manage production planning
- Proactively identify and resolve production-related issues, taking ownership of implementing solutions.
- Oversee all aspects of manufacturing processes, including welding, paint spraying, assembly, electrical assembly, and engineering, ensuring adherence to quality standards and production schedules.
- Utilise ERP system knowledge to optimise workflow, track production metrics, and generate reports for management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain, to streamline processes.
- Improve efficiency and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster a culture of empowerment and employee engagement by actively involving and soliciting input from the workforce, promoting teamwork and innovation.
- Develop and implement production strategies, in alignment with company goals and objectives, to achieve increased capacity and output.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a safe working environment for all production personnel.
- Monitor and manage production costs, material usage, and inventory levels to optimise efficiency and control expenses.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in manufacturing to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Proven experience as a Production Manager or a similar role within a high-volume engineering manufacturing environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge in welding, paint spraying, mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and engineering processes.
- Proficient in working with ERP systems and utilising their functionalities to streamline operations and monitor production metrics.
- Experience of working to continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience working to ISO quality standards
