Deputy Team Leader

Crem Recruitment is recruiting for a Deputy Team leader to join an established Manufacturing client in the heart of Haverhill on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.
This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on manufacturing experience who enjoys working with small components, maintaining high standards and supporting the smooth running of a production area.

The Role
Working alongside the Team Leader, you will play a key role in keeping the manufacturing area running efficiently. This is a predominantly hands-on position, with approximately 75% of your working week spent on production and 25% supporting the Team Leader with day-to-day operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
 
* Working hands-on with small components, following detailed processes and maintaining consistently high standards.
 
* Supporting the Team Leader with the day-to-day running of the manufacturing area.
 
* Providing holiday and absence cover, including allocating work to technicians when required.
 
* Completing daily work-in-progress counts and supporting weekly stock counts.
 
* Checking in-process quality control paperwork and transferring products.
 
* Supporting PPE replenishment and restocking consumables and chemicals.
 
* Carrying out chemical cupboard and obsolete product checks, reporting any issues or shortages.
 
* Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards within a clean and controlled working environment.
 
* Reporting equipment failures promptly and supporting the Team Leader and Engineering team as required.
 
* Acting as a key holder and taking responsibility for the shift in the Team Leader's absence.
 
* Providing supervision cover for Saturday overtime when required.
About You
We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
Ideally, you will have:
 
* Previous experience in a hands-on manufacturing or production role, ideally working with small components.
 
* Experience working in a clean, organised environment where attention to detail and following procedures are essential.
 
* Good manual dexterity and the ability to carry out precise, repetitive tasks.
 
* An excellent eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining quality standards.
 
* Good organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks calmly and efficiently.
 
* Experience working to quality standards, ideally ISO 9001:2015.
 
* The ability to work independently and support colleagues when required.
This role is primarily focused on practical production work and operational support rather than direct people management, which will remain the responsibility of the Senior Team Leaders.

Please note:

You must be able to commit to the rotating shift pattern of 6am–2pm and 2pm–10pm, Monday to Friday initially The rotating shift pattern is expected to end by 2026 and will then go to standard working hours of 7.30am – 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am – 1.30pm Friday.
