Regional Outage Planner/Project Manager
Reworld Waste is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Regional Outage Planner/Project Manager to join our Waste‑to‑Energy (WtE) power production plant team. The position reports to the Regional Maintenance Manager and oversees the planning, coordination and execution of scheduled and unscheduled plant outages across multiple regional sites.
About the RoleThe Regional Outage Project Manager ensures optimal uptime, efficient energy generation and compliance with environmental standards. The role requires 50‑70% travel, and the manager handles multiple projects simultaneously while coordinating teams and resources. Responsibilities include managing project budgets, monitoring progress, optimizing performance and ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
What You’ll Do- Develop and implement detailed outage plans for critical WtE systems (combustion chambers, boilers, turbine generators, ash handling systems, etc.).
- Coordinate outage activities across multiple plants, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets and resource allocations.
- Adjust resource allocation (labor, materials, vendors) to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within scope.
- Lead internal and external teams, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, efficient resource management and timely project execution.
- Monitor costs during outages, identify budget overruns and recommend corrective actions or cost‑saving measures.
- Perform risk assessments and manage potential project delays, safety hazards and environmental concerns.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project schedules, ensuring the timely and successful completion of outage projects.
- Establish preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for key WtE plant systems to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow best practices and project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans to ensure on‑time, on‑budget execution.
- Ensure outage work adheres to Reworld’s safety policies, environmental regulations and industry standards.
- Lead compliance efforts to maintain air quality and meet air pollution control standards during outages.
- Conduct hazard analysis and risk assessments to ensure the safety of personnel during outage operations.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, contractors and vendors to procure resources for outage projects.
- Develop and manage outage project budgets to ensure cost efficiency and effective resource use.
- Track project expenses, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
- Maximize plant uptime and minimize downtime to optimize overall operations and project outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma principles to improve operational performance and reduce downtime.
- Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations, including emissions standards and waste disposal practices.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on outage activities, regulatory compliance and performance metrics.
- Report project status, progress and any potential challenges to senior management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for outage‑related communications, providing timely and clear updates to all stakeholders.
- Coordinate with senior management, vendors, contractors and internal teams to address outage‑related inquiries and issues.
- Conduct post‑outage reviews to assess the success of planning and execution and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in outage management and execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven project management experience, ideally in outage planning and coordination within the WtE industry.
- In‑depth knowledge of WtE systems (combustion chambers, turbines, air pollution control systems, steam generation, etc.).
