The Role

You will efficiently and accurately handle the receipt, storage, and dispatch of raw materials and finished products within a food manufacturing environment. The Warehouse Operative ensures that products are stored safely, inventory levels are maintained accurately, and orders are prepared and dispatched in a timely manner to meet customer and production demands.

Key ownership areas
  • Receiving Goods
    • Unload incoming deliveries of raw materials and other products.
    • Check goods against delivery notes for accuracy and report any discrepancies. Complete relevant paperwork as needed for intake.
    • Inspect the condition of goods received, ensuring they meet quality standards.
    • Record all received items in the inventory WMS.
  • Storage and Inventory Management
    • Store raw materials and finished products in appropriate locations, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO).
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
    • Conduct regular stock counts and report any variances.
    • Ensure all stock is stored in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
  • Order Fulfilment
    • Pick and pack orders according to customer and production requirements.
    • Ensure accuracy of picked items against order documentation.
    • Prepare orders for dispatch, including labeling and palletizing products as needed.
    • Load outgoing shipments onto delivery vehicles, ensuring secure and efficient loading.
  • Health and Safety
    • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
    • Operate warehouse machinery (e.g., forklifts, pallet trucks) safely and responsibly.
    • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all employees.
    • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or accidents to the Warehouse Supervisor/Manager.
  • Quality Control
    • Ensure all products handled meet the company's quality standards.
    • Identify and report any damaged or non-conforming products.
    • Follow established procedures for the disposal of rejected materials.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with other departments (e.g., Production, Quality Control) to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding any issues or improvements needed in the warehouse processes.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Participate in training programs to improve skills and knowledge.
    • Contribute ideas for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in warehouse operations.
Who we are looking for:
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics role, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet trucks) safely.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management systems (Advantage).
  • Physical stamina to perform manual handling tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to warehouse operations.
  • Loves cats (naturally)
