RequirementsDEPARTMENT: Nursing
JOB REPORT TO: Unit Manager
GENERAL
SUMMARY:
Provides nursing care services consistent with the responsibilities of an LPN.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Observe and report symptoms and conditions of residents.
- Administer medications as prescribed by physician.
- Give treatments as ordered.
- Count narcotics and maintain record of same.
- Maintain records reflecting resident condition, medication, treatments and progress.
- Transcribe physician written and telephone orders.
- Place drug orders.
- Assist with completion of nursing history and assessment, MDS, and care plans.
- Assist in orientation and supervision of nursing staff.
- Perform direct resident care as necessary.
- Conform to recognized nursing practice and facility policies and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing in-service education.
- Assume Charge Nurse Responsibilities when necessary.
- Prepare/coordination of CNA assignments
- Responsible to call MDs. Book tests, labs, x-rays, and medical appointments
- Assist the MDs in making rounds and preparing charts for MD signatures
- Check meal tray for accuracy
- Directly supervise CNAs
- Perform all treatments and assessments as requires
- Perform resident admissions and discharges
- Notify MD/NP of any changes in resident status
- Notify family members/HCP of changes in treatment status
- Documentation/nurses notes
- Responsible for updating care plans
- Answers to nurse managers
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to lift up to fifty pounds.
- Able to push/pull forty pounds.
- Able to stand for up to four (4) hours per day.
- Able to bend, squat, and stoop to floor level.
- Able to kneel.
- Able to walk.
- Able to reach heights of up to four and one-half feet.
- Able to see and hear with or without prostheses
- Able to move intermittently
- Able to cope with physical and mental job stress
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to recognize changes in the condition of residents and to take action required.
- Able to read, write and speak in English in a legible and understandable manner.
- Current CPR/AED Certification
