BriefPosition Overview
The College of Technical Sciences at Montana State University Northern invites applications for an academic-year (10-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor of Automotive/Diesel Technology (ATDI), beginning August 1, 2025. Effective teaching is the primary mission of this position. The benefits package includes paid employee health insurance, retirement plans, paid sick leave, one floating holiday, 12 paid holidays, and Montana University System tuition waivers.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
Teach approximately 12‑14 semester credit hours of lecture/laboratory technology courses each semester, focused on automotive, diesel, and ag mechanics. Expected courses include, but are not limited to, electrical/electronics, automotive technology (engines, engine diagnostics, brakes, steering/suspension), and auto/diesel/ag mechanics (e.g., heating/air conditioning). Additional responsibilities include student advising, office hours, class and lab maintenance, academic committee assignments, program development, student recruitment, industry training, and fostering industry partnerships.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills- A bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology or a related field.
- Recent industry work experience with a strong background in electrical/electronics, engines, and automotive/diesel systems.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
- Demonstrated strength in interpersonal skills and attributes.
- Experience and willingness to embrace new technologies.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
Note: A Master’s degree will be required for tenure.
