Position Information

Title: Instructor/Assistant Professor of Diesel Technology/Agricultural Mechanics Technology Faculty (Tenure Track)

Start Date: Aug 1 2025 (academic-year, 10‑month)

Type: Faculty, Academic Year, Tenure Track

General Statement

The instructor will teach approximately 24 credit hours of lecture/laboratory courses per academic year. Courses will be in Diesel Technology or Agricultural Mechanics Technology, including fuel systems, electrical/electronic systems, powertrains, chassis, air conditioning, and agricultural equipment. The instructor will also provide academic and career advising, curriculum development, program growth, assessment, work with an advisory board, serve on campus committees, and participate in campus activities as an ambassador of the College of Technical Sciences.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Teach ~24 credit hours of courses as described above.
  • Advise students academically and career-wise.
  • Engage in curriculum development, program assessment, and advisory board work.
  • Serve on campus committees and act as an ambassador for the College.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Diesel Technology, a technical or related field with increasing responsibility and experience demonstrated.
  • Industry experience in the Diesel Technology and/or Agricultural Mechanics field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications.

Note:

Master’s degree required for tenure;
Bachelor’s degree in diesel or related field required to be considered for an assistant professor.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Recent industry work with strong background in electrical/electronics, hydraulics, brakes, suspensions, automatic transmissions, engines, air conditioning, powertrains, and agricultural equipment in the diesel or agriculture industry.
  • Experience with grain harvesting equipment, tractors, forage implements, sprayers, tillage, and planting implements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attributes.
  • Experience and willingness to embrace new technologies.
Special Requirements

A teaching demonstration by the candidate will be required as part of the interview process.

Physical Demands

Ability to work in an office, classroom, or lab environment with or without reasonable accommodations.
