Position: Event Technician, Audio Visual (Part Time)- Grand Hyatt Kauai
Location: Koloa

Overview

Event Technician, Audio Visual (Part Time) — Grand Hyatt Kauai. A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic/small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology.

Responsibilities
  • Equipment Operation:
    Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications.
  • Customer Service:
    Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain positive client relationships through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment setup is functioning properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; understand and foster the hotel/client relationship.
  • Technical Ability:
    Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Systems Knowledge:
    Follow company processes, complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine scheduled equipment; interact with staff and outside vendors; utilize up-selling techniques where appropriate; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries in Navigator as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required;
    Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Internal applicants must meet training and certification requirements as determined by Encore’s Global Learning Training Program; see requirements via link.
  • External applicants must meet/validate and complete all training and certifications within one year; for technical external requirements, view our career path.
  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
  • 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required for team members who may operate Company vehicles;
    Additional DOT requirements may apply.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Hotel and event venue environments, with exposure to indoor/outdoor elements. May work in multiple locations; irregular hours, on-call status, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. High-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components may be used; heights via lifts and ladders may be encountered. Appearance guidelines apply as defined by Encore.

Other
