Position: Kohala Elementary - Special Education Teacher, 603376 (2025-04509)
Location: Kapaau

Kohala Elementary – Special Education Teacher

Teacher will be responsible for providing specially designed instruction to students with special needs.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
  • Special education classroom experience in a K‑12 school setting.
  • Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings; exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions; maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines; grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively; work effectively with others.

Additional requirements:

  • Must have a valid Hawaii teaching license or an Emergency Hire Permit at the time of hire. If hired without completing a Teacher’s Education Program, you have a maximum of three years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license.
  • If hired without a teaching license, you must enroll in a Hawaii-based Teacher’s Education Program (SATEP) and continue active pursuit toward licensing requirements in accordance with the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
