This posting is being used to fill various Educational Assistant positions at the specified location. The authorized level of these positions is Educational Assistant III. Applications are being accepted down to the Educational Assistant I in the event of recruiting difficulties.
SalaryEducational Assistant I, SR-10: $3,019.78 per month
Educational Assistant II, SR-12: $3,260.76 per month
Educational Assistant III, SR-14: $3,526.98 per month
Examples of Duties- Within a classroom setting, independently performs a variety of academic and non-academic instructional tasks in accordance with established guidelines and available resources.
- Provides paraprofessional support services to students with disabilities and assists teachers in the delivery of educational and behavioral interventions. May independently provide academic, social, vocational, and daily living instruction to students with disabilities in school and/or community settings to enable them to function as independently as possible. Adaptability to varied student needs is expected.
- Serves as a paraprofessional assistant in the delivery of counseling support services and activities for identified students. Participates as a member of the school support team and delivers interventions prescribed by the school support team to reduce a student s academic, behavioral, or social needs.
Basic Education Requirements
:
Applicants must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent AND one of the following minimum education requirements, established under federal guidance.
- 48 semester credits at baccalaureate level from an accredited institution (3 credits in English and 3 credits in Math required).
- Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree or higher from an accredited institution with a minimum of 48 baccalaureate-level credits.
- Successful completion of the Para Pro Assessment provided by ETS.
Experience Requirements
:
Except for substitutions described below, applicants must have the experience described for General and Specialized roles at the levels of Educational Assistant I, II, or III. The table includes typical time frames for General and Specialized Experience.
- Educational Assistant I: 0 years general, 0 years specialized
- Educational Assistant II: 1 year general, 0 years specialized
- Educational Assistant III: 1 year general, 1 year specialized
General
Experience:
Experience involving direct interaction with people, ability to organize materials, maintain records, and write concise descriptions. Awareness of basic educational programs gained through activities such as committees, youth advisory roles, or parent/teacher/student meetings.
Specialized
Experience:
Work involving direct contact with students, student management, familiarity with common student problems, use of varied instructional materials, and performance of instructional or counseling tasks.
Driver s License
:
Some positions require a current, valid driver s license.
Lift Requirements
:
Some positions require the ability to lift up to 65 pounds and/or up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Allowed substitutions of education for experience include:
- Certificate of Completion in Child Services or related program
- 15+ semester credits toward an AS degree in related fields
- 15+ semester credits toward a bachelor s degree
- Bachelor s degree in Education or equivalent
- Professional Diploma in Education or equivalent
- None of the above
Temporary Assignment: TA experience may be used to meet minimum qualifications if verified by listed options.
