Scope of Position (Job Summary)Under the direction of the site manager, the technician conducts preventative maintenance of wind turbines, photovoltaic power plants, and energy storage systems. Working safely under all circumstances, the technician troubleshoots and repairs equipment under the supervision of an experienced technician, and seeks guidance for work beyond their competence.
Required TrainingEach Renewable Energy Technician attends a mandatory five‑week training and certification course at the start of employment. The training is held in Albert Lea, MN, covering travel, accommodation, and expenses.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance on wind turbines, utility‑scale photovoltaic power plants, and storage systems.
- Under supervision, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade a broad range of equipment in the renewable industry.
- Complete Job Safety Assessments, apply LOTO procedures, identify and report safety hazards, and attend safety meetings.
- Participate in the 24‑hour/weekly “on‑call” rotation and work outside business hours when needed. required safety and technical training.
- Perform administrative duties such as documenting completed jobs, implementing supply orders, completing daily work orders, and time tracking.
- Accomplish other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2–4 years of experience in renewable energy or a related discipline.
- Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards.
- OSHA 10 or equivalent certification.
- Basic Safety Training (BST) under the Global Wind Organization.
- Basic Technical Training (BTT) under the Global Wind Organization.
- Control of Hazardous Energies (CoHE) under the Global Wind Organization.
- Slinger and Signaler certification under the Global Wind Organization.
- NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B or equivalent certification.
- Valid current driver’s license and vehicular competency.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components of wind turbines, photovoltaic power, and energy storage systems.
- Familiarity with CSA Z462 / NFPA 70E and the identification of appropriate PPE.
- Basic understanding of schematics and correct use of a multimeter.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Completion of applicable safety and technical training.
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).

The full pay range for this role is $22.00 to $37.00 per hour. Expected starting pay upon hire is $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, determined by experience, education, performance, and geographic location.
