Principal Massage Therapist

Primary Responsibilities:

The Principal Lead Massage Therapist delivers professional, therapeutic, and rejuvenating spa services to guests while ensuring the highest standards of service, professionalism, and guest satisfaction. In addition to performing treatments, this role supports the training, development, and mentorship of the Spa Providers team. The Principal Lead Massage Therapist assists with daily spa operations, including inventory management, scheduling, guest check-ins/outs, and maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.

  • Perform professional massages and body treatments, following treatment guidelines, draping policies, and spa protocols.
  • Greet guests warmly, use their names during interactions, and ensure a personalized and exceptional spa experience.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in treatment rooms, prep areas, and all spa spaces, including locker rooms.
  • Assist with daily spa operations: scheduling, guest check-in/out, inventory, and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Train, mentor, and orient new Spa Providers in treatment techniques, timing, cleaning protocols, and product knowledge to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Act as liaison between service providers and Spa Management, communicating updates, concerns, and guest feedback effectively.
  • Actively promote spa treatments, services, packages, retail products, and seasonal promotions.
  • Educate guests on home care regimens and provide detailed aftercare plans.
  • Conduct staff meetings, training sessions, and product knowledge workshops, contributing to professional development opportunities for the team.
  • Research industry trends, continuing education, and new treatments to enhance spa offerings and maintain competitive standards.
  • Assist Spa Management in developing Spa Coordinator knowledge on service, booking procedures, and client relations.
  • Perform routine checks of treatment rooms and equipment to maintain standards of cleanliness, safety, and readiness.
  • Abide by all National Certification, State of Hawaii, and local regulations and guidelines for massage therapy and spa operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Other Duties:

  • Strong expertise in therapeutic and luxury spa massage techniques.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team development abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with sensitivity to guest and coworker needs.
  • Professional, cooperative, and positive demeanor.
  • Ability to educate guests and staff effectively on treatments, home care, and product use.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for treatment and administrative tasks.
  • Proficiency with computerized scheduling, POS systems, and inventory management tools.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to spa environments, including heat, humidity, steam, sauna, massage oils, scrubs, and lotions.
