Position Overview

The Housing & Engineering Manager oversees all aspects of employee housing and facility maintenance for the hotel’s workforce accommodations. The role ensures that all housing units, common areas, and utilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and comfort. The manager leads housing operations, engineering maintenance, and provides a positive and well‑maintained living environment that supports team member satisfaction and retention.

Principle

Duties And Responsibilities Housing Operations
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations of workforce housing facilities, including dormitories, apartments, and shared accommodations.
  • Oversee room assignments, move‑in/move‑out processes, and tenant relations for all housed team members.
  • Maintain accurate occupancy records and ensure compliance with housing policies and local regulations.
  • Coordinate housekeeping, pest control, waste management, and security services within housing facilities.
  • Develop and enforce community standards that promote safety, respect, and a positive living environment.
Engineering & Maintenance
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance and repair programs for all housing buildings, infrastructure, and systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure facilities meet brand and regulatory standards.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize downtime or inconvenience.
  • Collaborate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and routine maintenance services.
  • Develop and manage the housing and maintenance budget, including utilities, repairs, and improvement projects.
  • Track costs and resources to ensure efficient operation within budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for inspections, safety reports, and compliance audits.
  • Supervise maintenance technicians and support staff.
  • Foster a culture of guest‑like service for team members residing in housing facilities.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all local building codes, fire and life safety regulations, and brand standards.
  • Implement and monitor safety programs and emergency procedures.
  • Work closely with People Operations and Security to address housing concerns or incidents.
Reporting Relationships

Reports to the Assistant Director of Engineering at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, hospitality management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:

    5+ years in facilities, maintenance, or housing management, preferably in a hotel, resort, or hospitality environment.
  • Proven experience managing a property and overseeing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of building systems, asset management, and safety standards.
  • Certifications (preferred): OSHA, Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or equivalent safety/engineering credentials.

Salary: $85,000‑$100,000 annually + incentive bonus.
