Precise Systems seeks a Mobile Equipment Body Repairer/Mechanic (05130) with experience in equipment body construction, advanced metalworking skills, troubleshooting and diagnosis skills, and the mechanical aptitude to use a wide range of hand and power tools for repair and maintenance work. The Repairer/Mechanic manufactures body components, various brackets and clamps from sheet metal, and operates conventional machinery such as press brake, metal shears, punch press, roll machine, spot welder, welding equipment, punch press, and other shop related equipment.

All work is performed on site, ote delivery is not authorized.

Duties
  • Repair and replace such damaged body components as fenders, panels, windows, and truck beds as well as repair damage to mainframes and body structural members such as door posts, door frames, skeletal frame work, and main support members
  • The work at this level requires the fitting of body to frame, doors, window channels, hoods, trunk lids and other parts
  • Additional repairs may include repair of damaged parts such as folds, wrinkles, and large tears in fenders, doors, hoods, and roofs
  • On occasion, perform duties related to United States marine Corps corrosion prevention and control, which includes but is not limited to: the application of corrosion preventative compounds, surface preparation and touch up, accurately identify Marine Corps category codes 1-5, the four stages of corrosion, and the correlation of category codes and the stages of corrosion
  • Perform other processes related to the Corrosion Repair Facility, which includes: disassembly and reassembly of equipment, equipment washing, masking, sand blasting, and coating application
  • Determine the extent of damage to equipment bodies (e.g., dents, tears, cuts) and the most economical methods for repair
  • Remove, cut, and reshape damaged metal. The work may involve using welding, filling, sanding, and other techniques to restore the structure
  • Work on diverse equipment:
    Tasks are performed on a wide range of military equipment, such as trucks, trailers, engineering equipment, etc
  • Independent problem-solving:
    At this level, the worker must use significant judgment to solve complex problems, often improvising repair procedures or adapting parts for which they were not specifically designed
  • Operate tools:
    Use a variety of hand and power tools, including those for cutting, shaping, and grinding metal
  • Follow technical documents:
    Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and other drawings to ensure repairs meet specifications
  • Ensure applicable safety procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are followed in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Ensure shop areas and shop equipment are clean and operational, to include the conduct of periodic routine maintenance
  • On occasion, conduct Corrosion Service Team operations; apply CPCs and operate surface preparation and touch-up equipment to include: compressors, application guns, grinders, vacuums, spray guns, etc
  • On occasion, accurately identify Marine Corps equipment Corrosion Category Codes 1-5, the 4 stages of corrosion, and the correlation between category codes and stages of corrosion
Required Education
  • Possess a High School diploma or equivalent, and/or a vocational degree.
Required Experience
  • Possess knowledge of metal body construction to determine extent of damage to estimate labor and material requirements
