The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, prescribing and managing medications, developing treatment plans, coordinating care, and providing ongoing psychiatric services in an outpatient behavioral health setting.

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.

Diagnose and treat mental health and behavioral health disorders across the lifespan.

Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychiatric medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.

Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests when clinically indicated.

Collaborate with behavioral health providers, primary care providers, schools, families, and community resources to coordinate patient care.

Provide education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and recovery planning.

Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation and billing records.

Participate in quality improvement activities and multidisciplinary team initiatives.

Maintain compliance with professional, ethical, organizational, and regulatory standards.

Required:

• MD or DO with completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program

OR MSN or DNP with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialization

OR Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program, with psychiatric training

OR other education and training qualifying the individual to independently provide psychiatric services under Hawaii law.

• Current State and Federal controlled substance registration (DEA), or ability to obtain registration prior to start date.
• Current license in good standing in the State of Hawaii, or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date.
  • Candidates licensed in another U.S. jurisdiction must obtain Hawaii licensure within six (6) months of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Preferred:

• Experience working in community mental health, integrated care, rural health, critical access hospitals, or federally qualified health centers.
• Experience treating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Experience providing psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults.
• Experience working with Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and other culturally diverse populations.
• Experience using electronic health records.

Deliver services in an outpatient behavioral health setting, including in-person and telehealth modalities.

Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.

Manage exposure to emotionally sensitive or high-stress situations.
