Job Description

POSITION: CDL A Driver (Base Pay + Piggyback Premiums + Monthly Incentives)

DEPARTMENT: HHD

REPORTS TO: HHD Dispatcher

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for transporting freight to or from original destination to scheduled location and ensuring efficient delivery of goods within time constraints as directed by dispatcher.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Comply with all laws, Company’s policies, procedures and safety protocol, and DOT regulations at all times.
  • Ensures that vehicle is in a proper and safe operating condition as outlined in the CDL code by performing daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, completing proper documentation, and notifying supervisor of any repairs needed.
  • Keep accurate information in regards to deliveries and equipment; complete and turn in all pertinent documentation at the end of shift.
  • Maintain proper communication with dispatcher and customers.
  • Attend all safety training and provide valid certifications/licenses as mandated.
  • Operate company property safely, i.e., the moving of containers, trailers, chassis, flatbeds, forklifts, etc.
  • Performs other labor including the loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as directed by HHD Dispatcher.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

· Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

· Must have a current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A)

· Must possess knowledge of current Commercial Driver’s rules and regulations

· Hazmat and Tanker endorsements

· Must provide acceptable Driver’s Abstract

· Must be able to pass drug screen and physical examination upon contingent offer and throughout employment

· Must be able to pass criminal background check

· Must be able to pass road test with Company’s Driver Trainer

. Must pass FMCSA Clearing House with DRIVER NOT PROHIBITED

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

· 3 – 5 years of commercial driving experience

MENTAL, PHYSICAL and COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:

· Requires lifting 75 lbs, bending, climbing in and out of operating equipment, and walking

  • Requires long periods of sitting behind the wheel of a moving vehicle and speaking with various individuals via phones and two-way radios

· Maintain a presentable appearance at all times.

· Interpersonal and professional oral communication skills needed in dealing with all levels of employees, vendors and clients.

· Must be able to read, write and speak English.

· Must understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

· Work under minimal supervision, apply logic and reasoning to solve complex problems, use sound judgment and discretion in performing work duties.

. Piggyback experience, +$2.50/hour added to base pay

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily outdoors, prolonged hours on the road, driving from one location to the next.

NORMAL

WORK HOURS:

  • Monday – Saturday, as scheduled by HHD Dispatcher.
  • May require working overtime, on weekends and holidays per direction of HHD Dispatcher.

GUIDELINES:

  • Follows and adheres to all internal policies and procedures, House and Safety Rules, and any employee policy guidelines if applicable.
  • Executes goals and direction provided by Dispatcher.

INCENTIVES:

  • $550.00 Monthly Incentives for no tardy, absences and follow company dress code standards
  • $2.50 per hour added to the base pay for piggyback experience
  • Bi-Annual free t-shirts uniform if meet qualifications
  • License Upgrade Program, free driver training to upgrade license to CDL
