Responsibilities
  • System Design:
    Develop and maintain single-line diagrams (SLDs) and schematics for 480V and low-voltage power distribution systems.
  • Power Studies:
    Perform load flow, short circuit, and protective device coordination studies.
  • Equipment Specification:
    Select and specify electrical components including transformers, switch gear, MCCs, protective relays, breakers, and cabling.
  • Grounding & Protection:
    Design grounding and bonding systems; define overcurrent protection and fault coordination strategies.
  • Documentation:
    Generate accurate design packages, including SLDs, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts compliant with NEC and industry standards.
  • Integration:
    Work with controls and mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems into larger energy or propulsion platforms.
  • Testing & Validation:
    Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and prototypes.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    Ensure designs meet all applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, NFPA 70E, IEEE).
QualificationsRequired:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4–6 years of experience in electrical design and power system engineering.
  • Strong understanding of 480V 3-phase power systems and industrial distribution networks.
  • Proficiency in creating and interpreting single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and panel layouts.
  • Familiarity with electrical analysis tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or Easy Power).
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and IEEE standards.
  • Experience specifying and integrating electrical components and protective devices.
Preferred:
  • Experience with high-power energy systems, propulsion systems, or aerospace hardware.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, power electronics, or control system interfaces.
  • PE license or EIT certification.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of power systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar design tools.
