Senior Facade Design Engineer/Drafter (5+ Year Required)
Salary:
Highly Competitive, Negotiable based on Expertise
Job Type: Full-time
Tru Architectural is not a typical glazing contractor; we are a visionary design and build firm with our own production and installation facilities, giving us complete control over the quality of our signature projects. We tackle the most architecturally ambitious facades in Los Angeles, specializing in complex custom curtain walls, monumental sliding doors, high‑performance windows, and precision pivot door systems ().
We are looking for a Senior Facade Design Engineer—a technical master with 5+ years of experience—ready to join our talented, project‑oriented team. If you thrive on the challenge of taking a complex architectural concept and engineering it into a flawless, constructible system, this is your next career step. This role is about ownership, precision, and having a direct impact on the Los Angeles heritage through lasting, high‑design structures.
WhatYou Will Own
- Design Engineering Mastery: Drive the entire drafting process. Produce high‑quality, fabrication‑ready shop drawings using AutoCAD and relevant tools, detailing every component, anchor point, material spec, and tolerance for our sophisticated glazing systems.
- Precision Material Takeoffs: Generate precise material takeoffs from your shop drawings. Every piece must be accounted for. You will submit these takeoffs directly to the Project Manager, who relies on your accuracy to purchase materials and lock in project costs.
- Technical Integration: Be the authority on technical feasibility. Integrate all performance criteria (structural loads, thermal break requirements, water management) into the drawing sets, ensuring our designs are uncompromisingly sound.
- The RFI Engine: Proactively analyze architectural and engineering documents for clashes or ambiguities. Generate all technical Requests for Information (RFIs) internally and submit them directly to the Tru Project Manager for client and design team coordination.
- Zero‑Defect Quality: Work hand‑in‑hand with our in‑house fabrication team to eliminate errors before they reach the production floor. Your drawings are our quality control benchmark.
- Team
Collaboration:
Collaborate seamlessly with the Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager to align design execution with critical project timelines and budget targets.
- Experience: A proven track record with 5+ years of dedicated technical drafting or engineering experience specifically within the building envelope, facade, or custom curtain wall industry is mandatory.
- Technical Stack: Expert‑level proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D). Proficiency with specialized facade software (e.g., Schucal, Revit, Inventor) is highly valued.
- Knowledge: Deep, practical knowledge of glass, aluminum systems, sealants, attachment methods, and the structural dynamics of high‑performance glazing.
- Mindset: An uncompromising commitment to detail, accuracy, and efficiency. You must be driven to find solutions for complex problems, not just flag them.
If you are an experienced Facade Design Engineer looking for a role with significant technical autonomy, control over the product lifecycle, and the opportunity to work alongside the best in the business, we want to hear from you. Apply today to translate the future of architecture into reality with Tru Architectural.
