What’s your day like?As a Senior Staff Accountant at Sky One Federal Credit Union, your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and preparing a variety of financial and management reports, including the critical NCUA s 5300 Call Report. You will ensure accuracy and timeliness by preparing and posting journal entries in line with our established schedules.
Your role will also involve conducting daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger reconciliations as assigned, where you will proactively resolve any outstanding GL issues. This position not only demands a sharp eye for detail but also offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to the financial integrity of our organization, aligning with our core values of performance and accountability. To excel as a Senior Staff Accountant, candidates should possess a robust set of skills and proficiencies. Proficiency in accounting software and tools is essential for preparing accurate and timely journal entries, reconciling daily Federal Reserve Bank accounts, and ensuring all transactions are recorded properly. Candidates must also demonstrate expertise in preparing financial reports, such as the quarterly NCUA 5300 Report and monthly Financial Statements.
Strong analytical skills are crucial for effectively resolving outstanding general ledger issues, clearing exceptions, and evaluating accounting processes for improvements.
Additionally, excellent communication abilities are necessary for engaging with team members and addressing internal and external audit requests. A solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, along with compliance with BSA and OFAC regulations, will ensure consistency and integrity in financial operations. Candidates should be proactive, detail-oriented, and prepared to support the overall mission of enhancing our members financial well-being.
Qualifications- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience; financial services background preferred
- Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
- Strong understanding of financial products, GAAP, and general ledger systems
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with 10-key and office equipment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and problem-solving abilities
- Able to work independently, collaboratively, and cross-functionally
- Demonstrates initiative, curiosity, and a passion for continuous improvement
- Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment
