X is seeking a motivated Tool and Die Specialist to assist in the commissioning, planned maintenance, and repairs of its internal injection molding, die‑casting, and stamping tools. This individual will work with cross‑functional teams and bridge gaps between production and maintenance operations.
- Maintenance, repair, and modification of molds for plastic injection and die casting.
- Disassemble and assemble molds safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Repair and/or fabricate cores, cavities, and other components.
- Perform hand‑work repairs to part details, parting lines, lifters, slides, polished cavities, texture, venting, and spotting.
- Support production and maintenance with troubleshooting.
- Create and maintain a mold spare parts list.
- Identify and implement proactive systems to reduce manufacturing defects and improve productivity.
- Support design engineering in evaluating feasibility and implementation of tooling changes for part changes.
- Assist process engineering with part processing and troubleshooting for scrap reduction, cycle‑time reduction, and downtime reduction.
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- 3+ years of hands‑on technician experience with tool maintenance and/or repair of plastic injection molds.
- 1+ years of welding experience.
- 5+ years of hands‑on technician experience with tool and die maintenance and/or repair.
- 1+ years of TIG welding experience on tool steels.
- 1+ years of machining experience for minor mold component repair/replacement.
- Experience in production mold maintenance producing high‑volume parts.
- Basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair (e.g., hot runner systems, slide or core action limit switches, sequential valve gate cylinders).
- Experience interpreting dimensional inspection results (check fixtures, CMM or vision systems).
- Professional experience with laser welding, preferably with steel.
- Professional experience with tool polishing.
- Professional experience with texturing/graining tools.
- 3+ years of professional experience with CNC machining of tool/die components.
- Professional experience on new‑product‑launch processes.
- Strong analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently and productively in independent and team settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Standing for long periods, climbing ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are required.
- Willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
Pay range:
- Level 1: $30.00 – $38.00 /hour
- Level 2: $34.00 – $43.00 /hour
- Level 3: $38.00 – $48.00 /hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
