Software Engineer API​/Backend

This position is focused on the role of software engineering in the design of microservices and restful interfaces in a distributed computing environment. Software engineering will perform design and coding of software that controls these components as well as providing software to automate the testing of these components.

• Develop Microservices with Rabbit
  
  MQ (or similar queuing tools) and Protocol Buffers (Proto Bufs)
• Develop tools for data processing and distributed computing
• Perform some web design as needed
• Develop virtualized simulation environments for testing using JUnit and JMeter
• Work as part of an integrated product team under the direction of the Software Manager

• BS or MS in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent experience (MS preferred)
• Previous experience with software coding and application development using Java programming language
• Strong knowledge of design patterns
• Experience with MongoDB
• Experience with queuing systems such as Rabbit
  
  MQ or Active
  
  MQ with JSON or Proto Bufs (Protocol Buffers)
• Experience with Java JRE garbage collection optimization
• Experience with Tomcat and WAR/JAR deployment
• Experience with Python for data analysis tools
• Experience with git, gitflow version control system
• Experience with agile methodologies
• Graphical user interface design experience (a plus)
• Experience in writing software design documentation

• Interpersonal skills to effectively work with Thin Kom people internally as well as working effectively with suppliers and customers
• Ability to present information in team meetings and design reviews, as needed

• Ability to communicate calmly in a well-thought-out response, verbal and written
• Must have substantial problem-solving abilities

• Must be eligible to obtain and hold a US DoD Security Clearance in support of US Government contracts/subcontracts

• Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
• This position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data
• May occasionally lift and/or move parts, files or boxes up to 40 pounds
• May be required to sit for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work in an environment that may be subjected to occasional loud noises, hazardous materials and chemicals

Salary Range - $110,000 - $150,000
