OverviewCHAOS is seeking a Mid-career Command & Control/Mission Systems Software Engineer to join our team supporting R&D and product engineering for our next-generation Command & Control (C2) mission system product family. This role is highly collaborative and offers opportunities to work on multiple capabilities across our product offerings and to expand skills across product families.
Responsibilities- Research & Development (R&D) and Production software development for our next-generation Command & Control (C2) mission system product
- Support system integration of sensors and effectors
- Support edge and cloud deployments
- Support deployed software capabilities for U.S. and international customers
- Work on-site in our office in Los Angeles (Hawthorne, California)
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of professional, object-oriented software development
- Experience developing and/or integrating with C2 systems
- Extensive/advanced Python experience
- Experience with Agile lifecycle processes including Scrum, CI, and TDD
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate on small teams
- Solid understanding and extensive experience in software development using Linux
- U.S. Person status is required as this position will access U.S.

- Experience with DoD & related System/SW architectures and messaging standards (e.g., OMS, SOSA, Link-16)
- Experience designing and implementing tracking and track fusion algorithms
- Development experience in Ground or Airborne Sensors (radars, EO/IR, EW)
- Experience with networks (software and hardware)
- Experience with advanced time synchronization technologies beyond NTP
- Experience with Git and containerization (Docker, Podman)
- Familiarity with cloud computing and virtualization (WSL, KVM, Hyper-V, VMware)
- Experience with Modeling & Simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testbeds (e.g., DIS, VR-Forces, AFSIM)
- Experience with production-level software development & deployment, including Dev Ops/Dev Sec Ops /CI/CD using modern open-source/toolsets
- Experience with full lifecycle software development of high-TRL systems
- Experience with HW/SW integration and verification & validation of high-TRL systems
- Experience with additional languages such as C++, Rust, NodeJS, Java, Go
- Current or previous DoD security clearance

Salary Range: $130,000 - $240,000
The stated compensation range reflects base salary; actual offer may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.
