Legal Secretary, Paralegal

We are seeking a professional and caring individual to join our team as an estate planning paralegal. The ideal candidate comes with previous paralegal experience and/or a strong technical writing background. Primary responsibilities include drafting highly detailed legal documents and polished written correspondence to clients and other professionals. Responsibilities also include meeting with clients via zoom or in person to review their documents and coordinating with clients’ financial partners on matters such as account titling and funding of trusts.
Paralegals work directly with experienced estate planning attorneys to draft client documents based off the attorneys’ notes and recommendations.
- Ability to draft professionally written legal correspondence
- Prepare estate planning documents with the assistance of drafting software and templates
- Organize and maintain documents in an electronic filing system
- Meet with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to discuss matter details
- Discuss draft revisions with clients and make appropriate changes to documents
- Draft and e-file court documents for probate matters
- Maintain close communication with clients and financial advisors
- Other projects and duties as assigned
- Primary qualifications are a command of English grammar, strong technical writing skills, and an ability to synthesize and think critically. Experience in the legal field is helpful but not required.
- Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program, OR
- Two years' experience as a paralegal, OR
- Associate Degree in paralegal studies, OR
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat software
- Experience with Wealth Docx® drafting software a plus
- Experience with estate planning and probate law a plus
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive matters, and exhibit exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
- Starting at $22.00 per hour DOE
- 36-40 hours per week. Regular hours will be Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am – 2:00pm PST.
