Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range. The maximum salary of 56,154 is applicable to candidates with substantial teaching experience equivalent to U3.

About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Social Science Teacher to join the department from September 2026 on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 4 and 5 (with KS3 contribution where required), inspiring students to develop analytical thinking, research skills and a deep understanding of society and human behaviour. Subjects may include Sociology, Psychology, Criminology or related disciplines, depending on specialism.

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning
• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Social Sciences.
• Teach across KS4 and KS5, with KS3 involvement where appropriate.
• Differentiate effectively to support all learners.
• Use assessment data to inform planning and raise attainment.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and academic achievement.
Curriculum & Department Contribution
• Contribute to curriculum planning and development.
• Support enrichment opportunities such as debate clubs, trips and research projects.
• Promote independent learning and academic excellence.
Assessment & Pastoral Care
• Assess, monitor and track student progress in line with school policy.
• Provide clear and constructive feedback.
• Act as a form tutor if required and contribute to the wider pastoral ethos.
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive student engagement.
Professional Development
• Engage fully in CPD and departmental collaboration.
• Reflect on teaching practice and pursue continuous improvement.
Person Specification:
Qualifications
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
Experience
• Experience teaching Social Sciences at KS4 and/or KS5.
• Strong understanding of current examination specifications.
• ECTs with strong subject knowledge are welcome to apply.
