Are you an experienced Engineering Team Leader looking for your next challenge, or an experienced Maintenance Engineer ready to move into engineering leadership?

We are working with a global manufacturing business that is looking to appoint an Engineering Team Leader to lead a larger engineering team within a well-established manufacturing operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Team Leader who enjoys the people and management side of engineering and wants to take responsibility for a sizeable team within a structured and professional engineering function.

The Engineering Team Leader will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the engineering team, ensuring people are developed, maintenance activities are effectively delivered and engineering performance continues to improve.

THE ROLE

As Engineering Team Leader, you will take responsibility for the performance and development of the engineering team.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading, managing and developing a team of Maintenance Engineers
Conducting regular 1-to-1s, performance reviews and appraisals
Setting objectives and supporting individual development plans
Managing performance, attendance and employee relations issues
Coaching and developing engineers to improve capability across the team
Managing engineering resource and allocating work effectively
Working with the Engineering Manager to set departmental priorities
Managing contractors and external engineering suppliers
Ensuring contractors operate safely and to the required standards
Monitoring maintenance performance and key engineering KPIs
Supporting the delivery of planned preventative and reactive maintenance
Working closely with Production and other departments to maintain equipment availability
Attending management meetings and providing updates on engineering performance
Supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and maintenance standards
Ensuring engineering policies, procedures and health and safety standards are followed
Supporting engineering projects and wider site initiativesABOUT YOU

We are open to candidates who are already an experienced Engineering Team Leader, as well as experienced Maintenance Engineers who are ready to take the next step into leadership.

You will need:

Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment
Strong multi-skilled engineering knowledge
Good understanding of electrical and mechanical maintenance
Previous experience leading, supervising or developing engineering teams is desirable
Strong people management and communication skills
Confidence managing performance and having difficult conversations
The ability to motivate, coach and develop engineers
A structured and organised approach to managing a busy engineering function
Experience working with contractors and external suppliers
The ability to communicate effectively with Production, Engineering and senior management
A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
Strong understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment
