- Assist in reading and reviewing sketches, drawings, specifications, and engineering data provided by architects, engineers, and drafters.
- Support the evaluation of design feasibility based on factors such as safety, function, budget, and market characteristics.
- Research production specifications, costs, and materials; assist in providing cost estimates.
- Modify and refine designs to conform to customer specifications or building plan changes.
- Generate truss layouts for final construction.
- Learn to develop component documents for work orders to optimize cutting and assembly processes.
- Maintain consistent quality design work within the department.
- Communicate with immediate peers and peers in other departments for the purpose of maintaining continuity of design philosophy and effectiveness of designs.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams on technical inquiries.
- Communicate with customers as needed to clarify the customer expectations.
- Ability to analyze technical problems, determine root causes and recommend solutions to management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to recommend changes to drive business objectives.
- Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency, and risks, making clear decisions in the best interests of the organization.
- Ability to perform basic math functions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Skilled in customer service.
- Ability to be self‑motivated and work independently as well as work with a team.
- Strong understanding of construction fundamentals.
- Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee multiple projects from start to finish.
- Ability to effectively operate computer hardware and software.
- Strong attention to detail and be able to stay focused for long periods of time.
