Job Overview

Ameri Corps members serving with the READ Western Kansas Program will train and support local Reading Partners, parents, volunteers, educators, and community program staff, on evidence-based structured literacy strategies.

Members will deliver trainings, provide follow-up support, and help strengthen the literacy instruction ecosystem within rural western Kansas communities. This role offers professional experience in educational outreach, volunteer development, literacy training, and rural service.

• Deliver 1.5-hour structured literacy training to Reading Partners in assigned rural communities.
• Recruit and engage Reading Partners from schools, libraries, senior centers, youth organizations, and after school programs.
• Conduct outreach presentations to local partners and community stakeholders.
• Provide follow-up coaching and maintain communication with trained Reading Partners.
• Track participation, outcomes, and engagement metrics in a centralized database.
• Collaborate with FHSU staff and program leadership during monthly virtual meetings.
• Support community literacy efforts through education-focused service projects and events.
