Steel Estimator
Location:Hayward, CA
Work Type:Fulltime/Onsite
Work Authorization:Only US Citizens/Green Card Holders
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in steel fabrication and erection. The Estimator will prepare quantity takeoffs and bid packages, review construction drawings and specifications, communicate with General Contractors and Owners, attend pre-bid meetings, and negotiate pricing and contract terms.
Responsibilities- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs.
- Prepare and submit complete bid packages on time, including all required bid documents.
- Communicate with General Contractors and Owners regarding project requirements and bid details.
- Review and evaluate project specifications, including:
- Hiring goals
- Business participation goals
- Required material grades
- Specified manufacturers
- Other applicable specification requirements
- Attend pre-bid job walk meetings.
- Negotiate contract pricing and terms.
- Review construction drawings and project documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Maintain accurate and organized estimating information.
- Meet required bid deadlines.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be local to Hayward, CA.
- At least 5 years of direct experience with steel fabrication and erection.
- Previous employers must specialize in steel fabrication and erection.
- Demonstrated experience performing construction quantity takeoffs and preparing bids.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
. - Extremely detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated reasonable tenure with previous employers.
- Strong communication skills for working with General Contractors and Owners.
The following traits may qualify a candidate for stronger compensation:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent field
. - Experience in the structural steel and miscellaneous metals industry
. - Strong negotiation skills.
- Ambitious and motivated approach to work.
- Strong construction and industry knowledge.
