Job Summary
Responsible for leading the estimating effort for the department while directing the work of estimators and providing guidance for projects.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities- Directs the scope by organizing and pricing equipment, material, and labor cost items in estimates.
- Directs the development of cash flow, escalation and interest calculations for estimates.
- Gathers, calculates and compiles data for conceptual/hard bid estimates.
- Prepares cost estimates and price quotes on new work.
- Coordinates the preparation of cost estimates on project continuations.
- Proactively seeks additional new subcontractor and supplier relationships, while maintaining existing relationships.
- Develops analyses to aid in setting the contingency for estimates.
- Provides input, training and mentors other team members.
- Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem‑solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations, troubleshooting and resolving problems, making decisions under uncertainty or incomplete information to produce effective outcomes.
- Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to expected results, determining and developing approaches to solutions and receiving technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems.
- May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, and contributing to employee professional development without hiring or firing authority.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunities to move around; occasional light lifting may be required.
- Situated in a comfortable indoor area; unpleasant conditions are infrequent and not objectionable.
- Requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass pre‑employment assessment(s) if applicable.
- Typically requires a BS/BA in a related discipline, generally 5‑8 years of experience in the field; certification is required in some areas or a MS/MA with 3‑5 years of experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of hiring procedures.
- Knowledge of business practices and procedures.
- In‑depth knowledge of specific industry.
$80,473.81 – $ per year
