Base pay range $26.40/hr - $31.25/hr

Job Summary

The Permitting Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating permitting activities across a variety of programs or projects. This role ensures that all required permits are obtained in a timely and compliant manner, working closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and municipalities. The Permitting Specialist plays a key role in supporting project timelines by navigating regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate documentation, and fostering strong relationships with permitting authorities across multiple jurisdictions and project types.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage the end-to-end permitting process for projects across a region, program or vertical.
  • Research and interpret local, state, and federal permitting requirements to ensure full compliance across diverse project types.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all required documentation.
  • Track and monitor the status of permit applications, proactively addressing delays or issues with permitting agencies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for municipalities, regulatory bodies, subcontractors and internal stakeholders regarding permitting matters.
  • Collaborate with project managers, program managers and external stakeholders to align permitting timelines with project schedules.
  • Maintain organized records of all permit submissions, approvals, and correspondence.
  • Assist in resolving permitting-related issues or disputes, escalating as necessary to ensure timely resolution.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on permitting status to internal teams and leadership.
  • Support the development and implementation of permitting best practices and process improvements.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Education And Experience
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in permitting, regulatory compliance, or related roles within infrastructure, construction, or development industries.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Experience working with municipal and state permitting agencies.
  • Familiarity with zoning, land use, and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure development processes, including telecom, utilities, or construction, is preferred.
Competencies Required
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
  • Comfortable interacting with government officials, engineers, and internal stakeholders.
Direct/Indirect Supervisory Responsibility
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • May coordinate with external consultants, vendors, and municipal contacts.
Work Environment / Physical Demands / Travel Required
  • Remote position with occasional travel to municipal offices or project sites.
