Job Summary
p>FT - 40 Hours AM/PM shifts. Approximate pay range: $68.26 - $72.42. Under the supervision of the Manager of Pharmacy, the incumbent shall prepare, dispense and distribute medication and provide clinical monitoring and drug information in a manner that ensures optimal patient care. esponsibilities ul> li>Reviews and interprets medication orders for inpatients using computerized patient profiles to ensure the appropriateness of dosage and identify potential drug–drug interactions.li>Enters orders into the computer accurately and completely, verifying the completeness of physician/nurse entered orders. li>Contacts and confers with physicians regarding drug selection, dose, dosing interval, drug allergy, and drug–drug interactions. li>Prepares or supervises the dispensing of the appropriate unit dose medications and supervises the filling of automated dispensing machines. li>Maintains inventory and records of controlled substances and other drugs in accordance with federal and state laws.
li>Prepares or supervises the preparation of IV additives using aseptic technique in a laminar airflow hood. li>Prepares or supervises the admixtures of chemotherapy using aseptic and safety techniques. li>Coordinates workload activities with colleagues and technicians to complete routine shift tasks. li>Conducts monthly unit inspections. li>Provides drug information and in‑service education as needed for hospital staff and community. li>Maintains pharmacy inventory to ensure drug availability for patient use.
li>Assists in precepting pharmacy interns or technician students assigned to the area. li>Monitors selected patients’ drug therapy to ensure effective therapy. li>Maintains a clean working environment. li>Assists manager in developing and implementing new programs and policies; actively participates in quality assurance activities, clinical pharmacy documentation, DUE, and ADR. /ul> equired Qualifications ul> li>License/Certification:
Current California Pharmacy License; proof of all required licenses and certifications due at time of hire. li>
Education:
Graduate from an accredited pharmacy school; proof of all required educational degrees due at time of hire. li>
Experience:
Minimum 1 year in a hospital pharmacy; experience in a hospital pharmacy preferred. li>
Skills:
Knowledge and experience in UD, IV additives, and therapeutics; clinical skills; competence in basic pharmaceutical calculations; computer skills; ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and patients. /ul> p>Employee must demonstrate basic computer skills.
