The Drain Technician is responsible for meeting with customers to identify and diagnose specific drain/sewer piping concerns, getting the line(s) flowing, and advising customers on next steps, including coordinating with a Camera Technician for a main inspection. Drain Technicians produce quality, on‑time inspections and clear plumbing jobs to meet customer agreements and local plumbing code requirements.
Essential Functions- Ensure the safety of self, employer vehicles, equipment, and customer homes.
- Work independently with minimal supervision to complete assignments.
- Perform drain clearing at customer homes and provide overall assessment of known systems.
- Guide homeowners on next steps to permanently repair sewer lines.
- Work efficiently and keep job areas clean and organized.
- Collaborate closely with Camera Technician, Dispatch, and Sewer Supervisor to provide customer solutions.
- Represent the company publicly with integrity and professionalism.
- Maintain a customer‑oriented focus and communicate politely and effectively with customers.
- Participate in team, manager, and department meetings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of sewer systems, repair and installation using standard tools, machinery, and equipment.
- Apply, monitor, and report safety practices and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of all sewer systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Diagnostic and analytical skills.
- Works well under pressure.
- Demonstrates effective communication with customers, installation team members, dispatch, and management.
