Teacher of Science Maternity Cover - Full-Time / 0.8 FTE considered

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and talented Teacher of Science to join our thriving Science Faculty at Oathall Community College. This is a temporary maternity cover position starting in September 2026, but for the right candidate there may be flexibility to start in the Summer term.

The post is offered as full-time although applications for a part-time post (0.8 FTE) will also be considered. The successful candidate will be able to teach Science at Key Stage 3 and 4.

Oathall is an ambitious, forward thinking and growing 11-16 community college with over 1300 students. The school is characterised by our high expectations and an absolute commitment to raising standards and achievement for all. We are committed to Continuing Professional Learning through a strong training programme and work closely with our local federation schools.

The Science team consists of 11 specialist teachers, supported by 5 technicians and a dedicated faculty assistant. The science teachers follow an enquiry and contextualised based approach to learning and the comprehensive schemes of work are continually reviewed to ensure the highest standards. Students achieve excellent exam results with all students completing a minimum of AQA Combined Science GCSE, or study for Triple Science as an accelerated programme.

The faculty also offers GCSE Psychology, BTEC Health and Social Care and BTEC Animal Care as part of the KS4 options process.

Science is accommodated in well-resourced, modern laboratories. The faculty has access to a suite of Chromebooks for student use, as well as a dedicated work areas for staff. Science teaching is well supported by technicians.
