Director Medical Imaging
The Director of Medical Imaging at Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is accountable for managing all technical aspects of the Radiology Department in regard to services, programs, and their evaluation.
Responsibilities- Manage the department efficiently by planning, organizing, and controlling all activities to obtain maximum results.
- Schedule work assignments and coordinate requests for radiologic services to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
- Supervise and maintain radiologic services in compliance with hospital, state, local, and federal standards.
- Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of services through an ongoing program of quality assurance.
- Schedule all special procedures in accordance with standard procedures, perform isotope examinations, and perform general technical duties as required.
- Perform all special or difficult examinations to obtain satisfactory results and assist radiologists with difficult procedures.
- Develop and maintain the technical aspects of radiologic safety, recommending programming, monitoring, and placement of warning devices.
- Make recommendations for employment, termination, promotion, and disciplinary action regarding department personnel; evaluate subordinates regularly.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge in radiology to recommend new services, products, and equipment.
- Supervise training and staff development, ensuring employees receive proper orientation.
- Perform minor repairs to equipment and keep equipment in good working order; recommend equipment modifications, new equipment, and essential construction within the department.
- Ensure appropriate and accurate records are prepared in a timely manner.
- Prepare the departmental budget as required.
- Coordinate department purchasing and maintain proper stock levels, storage, and utilization of supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree Graduate of an AMA‑approved school of radiologic technology (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
- Four (4) years of experience in performing routine and special procedures (required).
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification required.
