As an Automotive Service Technician at Coughlin, you are the lifeblood of our company’s relationship with our customers, as you maintain and repair their vehicles for years after the sale. They trust your competence, as well as your integrity. You correctly diagnose mechanical problems with their vehicles, clearly explain the options, and make the agreed‑upon repairs.
You also provide regular maintenance services that keep vehicles in top condition. Automotive Technology, Vocational/Trade Certificate, High School Diploma or equivalent. Thorough knowledge of automotive parts and systems. Demonstrable mechanical skills and knowledge. Technical training or commensurate technical experience required.
Job Qualifications- Valid Driver’s License
- Certified/senior technician with respective manufacturer.
- Meets and/or exceeds manufacturer requirements for ASE tests.
- Completed manufacturer training to perform warranty repairs/recalls on most vehicles, PDI’s, maintenance, and minor repairs.
Basic Computer skills to utilize timekeeping system. Ability to learn parts department computer inventory and ordering system.
Communication SkillsAbility to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.
Attendance ExpectationsThe position requires regular and predictable attendance in‑person at an automotive dealership. Scheduled shifts are typically 5‑days per week, rotating Saturdays, and may include holidays. Service departments are closed on Sundays and only open until 6 p.m. during the week.
Physical & Environmental DemandsMust be able to lift up to (50) pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Duties are performed primarily in the automotive service area. Work includes movement around vehicles, working in various physical positions, and the safe operation of power tools and test equipment.
May be exposed to loud noise, vibration, exhaust fumes, and other service and repair conditions. Frequently interacts with customers, service advisors and the service manager.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
Math AbilityAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations. Ability to understand and follow technical manuals.
