Are you an experienced Control Systems Engineer looking to work on technically challenging projects from concept through to commissioning?
Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of bespoke low-voltage switch gear, distribution boards, transformers and containerised substations, supplying critical infrastructure, industrial and commercial projects across the UK.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Control Systems Engineer to join their expanding engineering team.
The RoleThis is a varied position covering the full project lifecycle, giving you the opportunity to work on the design, integration, testing and commissioning of control systems used within LV switch gear, power management and energy monitoring applications.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager, Electrical Design, Production and Test teams, you'll play a key role in delivering practical, reliable and well-engineered control solutions.
Responsibilities- Design and develop PLC, HMI and SCADA control systems.
- Develop software for switchboard control, generator control, ATS systems and energy monitoring.
- Configure PLCs, HMIs, protection relays, multifunction meters and communications equipment.
- Produce technical documentation including control philosophies, I/O schedules and functional design documents.
- Support FAT, SAT and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot control system issues during design, manufacture and commissioning.
- Provide technical support to clients and internal departments.
- Work closely with electrical design, production and site teams throughout project delivery.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control Systems or Automation Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience as a Controls Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, PLC Engineer or Automation Engineer.
- Good understanding of PLCs, HMIs and/or SCADA systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and control wiring diagrams.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a practical engineering approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a project environment.
Experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Modbus, Profinet or similar industrial control platforms would be advantageous but is not essential
