We are currently seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist to join our team in Heber, UT
. The role is an in‑office position; remote/hybrid schedules are not available.
The Payroll Tax Specialist will manage and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax filings, payments, and regulations. Responsibilities include applying taxability rules to fringe benefits, reconciling payroll tax remittances, addressing inquiries, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate the taxability of fringe benefits, including subsistence payments, on an individual employee basis.
- Reconcile payroll tax accounts to ensure remittances are calculated and remitted properly and on time.
- Respond to inquiries from employers and government agencies regarding payroll tax matters.
- Assist with the registration of new state, local, and unemployment withholding taxes as necessary.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and backup documentation to support all tax transactions.
- Support year‑end procedures including issuing year‑end tax documents and annual remittance reconciliation.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of payroll regulations and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll laws.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (preferred).
- A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing and tax compliance.
- Familiarity with payroll software and tax reporting systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening(s) and a criminal background check.
