Shape the space where artistic research comes to life
Do you want to work at the intersection of professional practice, artistic research and education, supporting experienced performing artists in critically deepening and/or reorienting their work?

About the position

As Curator / Lecturer of the Master in Theatre, you coordinate and develop the master’s programme. You are responsible for the coherence of the curriculum, the quality of the learning environment and the connection between professional practice, artistic research and higher arts education. You help shape a reflective, generous and international learning community in which artists take responsibility for their own trajectories as well as for the collective process.

You coach artists in a personal development trajectory, supporting their individual artistic project, their artistic research and professional positioning within an international context. You work from the understanding that artistic research is a form of practice-based knowledge production and feel at home in horizontal, development-oriented educational models. You lead a small and committed core team of lecturers, mentors and guest teachers, and safeguard the programme’s vision in close dialogue with the professional field.

The academy is working towards a future-oriented theatre curriculum. We are looking for someone who enjoys thinking along in processes of change and is engaged in curriculum development.

You
  • Curate and coordinate lectures, workshops and encounters that enrich the artistic research environment
  • Facilitate horizontal learning processes within a diverse, international group of performance practitioners
  • Mentor students throughout their individual trajectories and graduation projects
  • Take responsibility for organisational and administrative tasks related to the programme
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum and research structure
  • Build and maintain a strong network of guest teachers and professional partners in the field
The program, team and environment

The Master Theatre at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences is an international, practice-based programme for experienced performing artists who seek time, space and a critical community to deepen, question and reorient their artistic practice. Designed for mature professionals with an existing body of work, the programme offers an individual development trajectory within a strong collective learning environment, using artistic research as a central tool.

The programme is characterised by its horizontal, generous and reflexive pedagogy: students and staff operate as a self-learning community in which practices, methods and networks are actively shared. The Master Theatre functions as a laboratory and a place of reflection for artists who want to expand their perspective, engage critically with their own methods, and open up new artistic directions within an international context.
